DUE TO LOW WATER LEVELS, THE COTUIT WATER DEPARTMENT HAS DECLARED A STATE OF VOLUNTARY WATER SUPPLY CONSERVATION EFFECTIVE 08\/19\/2025<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u2022 Please avoid all outside water use between the hours of 5:00 AM and 8:00 PM.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Non-Essential* outdoor water usage is restricted to two days per week only. Residents living in odd-numbered houses are asked to use water only on Monday & Wednesday, and even numbered houses on Tuesday & Thursday.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Water only when necessary. Be aware of advanced weather forecasts, adjust your schedule for wind and rain to minimize water consumption.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Maintain your lawn at a height of at least two (2) inches to protect the roots and retain soil moisture.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Install rain shutoff devices on automatic irrigation systems, check moisture sensor controls for proper operation.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Replace or repair broken or missing sprinkler heads.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Water conservation kits are available at no charge, upon request.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u2022 Health and Safety reasons<\/div>\n
\u2022 Washing of boats, engines, marine equipment to prevent negative saltwater impacts<\/div>\n
\u2022 By permit, license, statute or regulation<\/div>\n
\u2022 To produce food, including vegetable gardens<\/div>\n
\u2022 For the maintenance of livestock<\/div>\n
\u2022 To meet the core functions of a business, including (not limited to): plant nurseries; golf courses; wedding venues; professional washing of exterior building surfaces, parking lots and driveways as necessary to apply surface treatments, pavement or cement<\/div>\n
\u2022 Irrigation of public parks and recreation fields before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m.<\/div>\n
\u2022 To establish a new lawn as necessary to stabilize soil in response to new construction or following the repair or replace of a septic system.<\/div>\n

IRRIGATION REGULATION – The BOWC voted to adopt an irrigation regulation dated August 25, 2021, which includes a rate increase for non-essential usage.\u00a0 The regulation can be viewed by clicking here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2023, the Cotuit Water Department provided 167,470,000 gallons of drinking water to 2,361 homes, businesses, and public buildings.<\/span><\/div>\n

We monitor and analyze the water to check that it meets or exceeds all state and federal standards. We provide an annual report detailing the water quality which is sent to every residence in Cotuit and is also\u00a0available online. Annual maintenance on structures and equipment allow us to get the full use of capital expenditures.<\/p>\n

Our mission is to provide a clean and adequate water supply for the Cotuit District through a central system for drinking, domestic and commercial use and fire protection. We need to own and control sufficient natural land areas for well-field production and aquifer protection. We are constantly evaluating our infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance for public health and planning for the future needs of the village we serve. We aim to provide efficient and friendly service to our ratepayers and customers.<\/p>\n
