The water mains are flushed every spring as part of a preventative maintenance program to ensure that the water quality is not being compromised. Flushing notices are published in the Cape Cod Time and Barnstable Patriot and posted on the Cotuit Fire District website at the end of March.<\/p>\n
Daily\u00a0flushing\u00a0locations are also posted on the Cotuit Fire\u00a0District\u00a0website in April and May.<\/p>\n

Discoloration of the water may occur.\u00a0 This is an unavoidable effect of flushing, with an aesthetic value only, and is not considered a health hazard.\u00a0 The water should clear after a short period of time.<\/p>\n
Signs will be visible in flushing areas.\u00a0 Residents in these areas are advised to refrain from laundering between 9 am and 4 pm and to set water aside for drinking and cooking purposes.<\/p>\n
All village residents are advised to check water clarity before use, while this program is in operation, as water lines outside the flushing area could be affected.<\/p>\n
