{"id":2820,"date":"2026-03-10T10:26:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-10T14:26:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cotuitfiredistrict.org\/waterdepartment\/?p=2820"},"modified":"2026-03-10T10:26:39","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T14:26:39","slug":"water-main-flushing-notice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cotuitfiredistrict.org\/waterdepartment\/2026\/03\/10\/water-main-flushing-notice\/","title":{"rendered":"WATER MAIN FLUSHING NOTICE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ATTENTION COTUIT RESIDENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATER MAIN FLUSHING NOTICE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Cotuit Water Department will be flushing water mains (weather permitting):<\/p>\n<p><strong>March 30, 2026 \u2013 June 1, 2026<\/strong><br \/><strong>Monday through Friday<\/strong><br \/><strong>9:00 AM \u2013 4:00 PM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Water main flushing is part of a preventive maintenance program conducted by the Water Department to help maintain water quality throughout the distribution system.<\/p>\n<p>During flushing, <strong>temporary discoloration of the water may occur<\/strong>. This is an unavoidable effect of flushing and is aesthetic in nature only; it is not considered a health hazard. Signs will be posted in areas where flushing is taking place.<\/p>\n<p>Flushing in one area can affect water conditions in surrounding neighborhoods, so residents throughout the village should be aware that temporary discoloration may occur even if our operators are not working on their street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Residents Should Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Avoid laundering between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM<\/strong> in areas where flushing is taking place.<br \/>\u2022 <strong>Set aside water for drinking and cooking<\/strong> in advance if you are in the flushing area.<br \/>\u2022 <strong>Check water clarity before use<\/strong> by running the <strong>cold water tap<\/strong> until it clears.<br \/>\u2022 <strong>Do not run hot water until the cold water runs clear<\/strong>, as sediment can enter and settle in hot water tanks and appliances.<br \/>\u2022 <strong>Avoid using washing machines or dishwashers<\/strong> until the water runs clear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Daily flushing locations will be posted on the Cotuit Fire District website at cotuitfiredistrict.org and on Facebook at facebook.com\/Cotuit-Water-Department.
