WATER MAIN FLUSHING NOTICE<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Cotuit Water Department will be flushing water mains (weather permitting) from:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monday, March 11, 2013 \u2013 Friday, May 31, 2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9 AM \u2013 4 PM\u00a0\u00a0 Monday through Friday<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Water main flushing is part of a preventive maintenance program being undertaken by the Water Department to ensure that water quality is not being compromised. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to recent water quality concerns and potential coliform rule violations, we will introduce very small amounts of chlorine into the system during this period to aid in the cleansing process.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Discoloration of the water may occur.\u00a0 This is an unavoidable effect of flushing, with an aesthetic value only, and is not considered a health hazard. The water should clear after a short period of time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Signs will be visible in flushing areas.\u00a0 Residents in these areas are advised to refrain from laundering between 9 am and 4 pm\u00a0 and to set water aside for drinking and cooking purposes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

All village residents are advised to check water clarity before use, while this program is in operation, as water lines outside the flushing area could be affected. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Flushing locations will be posted daily on cotuitfiredistrict.org.<\/strong><\/p>\n
