Residential Fire Inspections

MGL. c. 148, § 26F

The State of Massachusetts requires that all residential buildings be inspected by the fire department upon sale or transfer.  The inspection is to ensure the proper location and operation of automatic smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Scheduling Inspections

Residential inspections are done by appointment and can typically be scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in half hour intervals.  You will be given a specific time and date for the inspection that is convenient for you.  A certificate of compliance will be issued by the inspector upon passing the inspection.  This certificate is good for 60 days.
