ATTENTION COTUIT RESIDENTS – LEVEL II DROUGHT CONDITIONS
DUE TO LOW WATER LEVELS, THE COTUIT WATER DEPARTMENT HAS DECLARED A STATE OF VOLUNTARY WATER SUPPLY CONSERVATION EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2026
- Please avoid all outside water use between the hours of 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
- Non-Essential* outdoor water usage is restricted to two days per week only. Residents living in odd-numbered houses are asked to use water only on Monday & Wednesday, and even numbered houses on Tuesday & Thursday.
- Water only when necessary. Be aware of advanced weather forecasts, adjust your schedule for wind and rain to minimize water consumption.
- Maintain your lawn at a height of at least two (2) inches to protect the roots and retain soil moisture.
- Install rain shutoff devices on automatic irrigation systems, check moisture sensor controls for proper operation.
- Replace or repair broken or missing sprinkler heads.
- Water conservation kits are available at no charge, upon request.
* Non-Essential Outdoor Water Use means a use that is NOT required for:
- Health and Safety reasons
- Washing of boats, engines, marine equipment to prevent negative saltwater impacts
- By permit, license, statute or regulation
- To produce food, including vegetable gardens
- For the maintenance of livestock
- To meet the core functions of a business, including (not limited to): plant nurseries; golf courses; wedding venues; professional washing of exterior building surfaces, parking lots and driveways as necessary to apply surface treatments, pavement or cement
- Irrigation of public parks and recreation fields before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
- To establish a new lawn as necessary to stabilize soil in response to new construction or following the repair or replace of a septic system.
IMPLEMENTING THESE IMPORTANT CONSERVATION MEASURES COULD HELP TO AVOID A MANDATORY WATER BAN. PLEASE USE WATER WISELY!
