Flushing Program
Schedule
- Annual flushing runs from mid‑March through mid‑June, weather permitting.
- Daily locations are posted here and on our Facebook page.
Purpose
Flushing is part of the Water Department’s preventive maintenance program. It helps maintain water quality and system reliability.
What to Expect
- Water discoloration may occur during flushing. This is temporary and not a health risk.
- Water should clear after a short time.
- Signs will be visible in flushing areas.
Resident Guidance
- Avoid laundry between – on flushing days.
- Set water aside for drinking and cooking in advance.
- Check water clarity before use, even if you’re outside the posted area, as nearby streets can be affected.
Where to Find Updates
- Daily flushing locations: Posted below and updated each morning.
- Season kickoff notices are also published in the Cape Cod Times and Barnstable Patriot at the start of the season.
