Update April 30, 2020

The Cotuit Water Department remains open and able to provide most services during the COVID19 situation.  Our office is open regular hours, Monday-Friday from 8am to 4:30pm.  You can reach the office at 508-428-2687 or by email at jen@cotuitwater.org .

The Annual High-Flow Maintenance Flushing Program has been suspended during Governor Baker’s extended stay at home order.  Updates can be found on our district website: https://www.cotuitfiredistrict.org/waterdepartment/news-announcements/ or the Water Department Facebook page: https://www.Facebook.com/Cotuit-Water-Department .  The flushing program is conducted each spring in order to remove sediment from the water lines and improve water quality through the year.

Superintendent Chris Wiseman participates in the weekly Cotuit Community Leaders update via Facebook Live every Monday night at 5pm.   There is a Q&A opportunity following the update.  These conversations can also be viewed on YouTube following the live meeting: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSKCJ4MHvpP2l0Tmtxnf-WQ

Flushing Notice, Update 4/24/2020 1:30 p.m.

Update #6   04/24/2020  1:30 p.m.

We are continuing low-flow flushing to clear the water supply in isolated areas of the district – currently in the area of Main Street between School St. and Ocean View Avenue.  If you continue to experience water discoloration today, please contact the water department by phone 508-428-2687 or by email: jen@cotuitwater.org so that we can target areas that need attention.

At this time, the Superintendent has decided to suspend the high-flow maintenance flushing program until May 4th, to coincide with the Governor’s stay at home directive.  The situation will be reassessed at that time as it is important to continue this maintenance program in order to mitigate a recurrence of these issues as water consumption increases throughout the district.

Please remember to run only COLD water to check your water clarity.  If after 3 to 5 minutes of continuous flow you are still experiencing dirty water, please contact the Water Department. Our on-call staff is available 24/7 by calling 508-292-8755 should you experience issues after 4:30pm.  Please be sure to provide your address, contact phone number and time of incident so that we can resolve your issue more efficiently.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
